Fight Dry, Irritated Skin This Winter with Obagi

Do you feel the chill in the air? Winter’s coming and with it comes cold, dry air. Whether you’re turning up the heat inside, or braving the elements outdoors, winter is no friend to sensitive skin. That’s why it’s important to take a proactive approach to winter skincare this season. Retain soft, supple skin with these preventative dry skin tips.

1. There’s nothing more relaxing after a hard day at work than a nice, hot bath. The hot water soothes tired muscles, but did you know it also saps your skin of much needed moisture, too? To avoid dry, flaky skin, turn down the temperature….of your bath water, that is. Lukewarm water is best for keeping skin hydrated, but don’t soak too long. Even cooler water can dehydrate skin, so keep bathing short.

2. After bathing, pat skin dry with a soft towel. Avoid rubbing because it can cause irritation for already sensitive skin. Before skin is completely dry is a good time to apply a moisturizer to lock in the moisture on your skin. We recommend Obagi Skin Care Professional-C Serum to give your skin an antioxidant boost that fights fine lines and wrinkles and leaves skin soft and silky. With deep penetrating vitamin C, your skin’s surface is protected and looks younger.

3. Don’t forget the SPF. Even in the winter, skin is vulnerable to the damaging effects of UV rays. You may not get a glowing tan, but trust us when we say, you’ll thank us later. Avoid pre-mature aging like fine lines and wrinkles by never leaving the house without sunscreen – even in the winter.

4. Hydrate from the inside out, especially in the winter. Winter skin needs all the help it can get and drinking the recommended 8 – 8oz. glasses of water each day will help your skin stay moist and young. Fine lines and wrinkles are more prominent on dry skin, so give your skin a hydrating boost and drink up!
