Get Those Underarms in Shape for Summer with Murad

It may seem like you’ll never wear another tank top again because winter seems to be hanging on this year, but trust us when we say, warm weather is on its way. This means it’s time to start thinking about getting your skin in shape to wear some of the great spring and summer fashions for 2013. That fur coat you’ve been sporting under your arms for most of the winter isn’t going to cut it when warmer weather hits, so let’s get busy!

Step 1 – Exfoliate

Wash and exfoliate your underarms daily. This will help remove the deep-down dirt and debris and help prevent those annoying little dark spots. Pay special attention to the creases. We recommend Murad Activating Body Scrub to remove accumulated dirt and debris from underarms. It leaves skin feeling fresh and clean.

Step 2 – Remove hair.

The best way to remove underarm hair is by waxing, if you can stand it. This hair removal method pulls the hair out by the roots, where shaving leaves them behind and still visible.

Step 3 – Shaving

If waxing isn’t for you, shaving is the next best option. It’s important to use a super-sharp razor and rinse it between strokes. Since underarm hair grows in every direction, you must shave in every direction to get it all. Replace your razor as soon as it shows signs of getting dull.

Step 4 – Wear comfortable clothing

Tight or itchy clothing can cause friction under your arms, which leads to irritation and eventually dark patches. Choose clothing that is soft to the touch, not too tight (including straps), and absorbs moisture well, such as 100% cotton.

Step 5 – use good deoderant

You may be inclined to spend as little as possible on your deodorant. Really, all it has to do is keep you from smelling bad, right? While this is true, cheaper deodorants can contain harsh chemicals that can irritate your skin. Opt for a high-quality deodorant and you’ll notice the difference on your skin.

Step 6 – No depilatory creams!

Depilatory creams are a no-no for your underarms. Your skin is super-delicate under there and the harsh chemicals in these hair-dissolving creams can cause irritation, which of course, leads to dark underarm skin.

Skin season is coming up soon, so help it look its best with more body care products from Murad.
