Spring is a Good Time to Re-evaluate Your Skincare Regimen

Although not on purpose, many women get into a skincare rut. They find products and routines that work for them early on and tend to stick with them for years, regardless of the changes in their skin. It’s easy to do, but unfortunately, as we age, our skin needs change. If you notice that despite your best efforts, your skin doesn’t respond as it used to to the things you do, it may be time to re-evaluate your skincare regimen. Spring is a good time to do this because it’s a time of getting rid of the old and welcoming in the new. Here are a few tips to help you get going.

Step 1 – Take a look in the mirror.

If your skin isn’t as luminous or as young looking as you’d like it to be, maybe it’s time to reconsider your skincare products. What do you hope for when you look at yourself in the mirror? What words come to mind when you look at your skin?

If you’ve always treated your skin for acne, but now notice some fine lines and wrinkles around your eyes, adding an anti-aging product or two to the mix is probably a good idea. You may not even need those acne-fighting products anymore. We recommend trying the Cellex-C skincare line in this case (http://www.astonishingskincare.com/cellex-c.html) because the active ingredient vitamin C works wonders on keeping acne at bay and fighting the effects of aging.

Step 2 – What is your skin type now?

You may have had oily skin when you first began your skincare routine, and used products designed to rid your face of its oiliness, but what about now? Is it still oily, or do you notice some dry areas, too? As we age, our skin dries out, so it’s possible that you no longer have such oily skin and need to switch gears. Products designed for oily skin dry skin further, so it may be time to consider more moisturizing, less irritating products, especially if looking younger is your goal.

Step 3 – Make a change.

It can be difficult getting rid of those skincare products you’ve used for so many years. They’ve become reliable and trustworthy even though they may not be working for you as well as they used to. We recommend trying to find products within the same brand as you’re used to using, only buy ones specifically designed for the particular skincare concern you have in mind. It’s okay to be a little hesitant to changing your routine, but once you do, you’ll realize how much better your skin responds.

It doesn’t matter if you’re 20, 30, 50 or older; it’s never too late to change your skincare routine to adjust to the changing nature of your skin. Renew and refresh your skin this spring by clearing out old products that no longer work for you and incorporating new ones that give you that radiant, younger-looking glow you’ve been looking for.
