Tips for transitioning makeup from day to night

Life seems to continuously move faster and sometimes it can be hard to keep up. From work obligations to family outings – time flies when you're busy. Long days in the office seem to take over your week while you look forward to going out and having fun with a group of close friends. When you get home, one of the last things you're interested in doing is taking the time to get ready all over again. You may think to yourself, "Didn't I just do this nine hours ago?" You aren't alone.

"Sure you look bright and fresh-faced when you roll your chair up to your desk first thing in the morning, but before you know it, your mascara has flaked off, your blush faded away and you haven't even had a moment to think about reapplying that lip gloss," Raychel Wade, NYC makeup artist told Total Beauty.

Fear not, with a few simple tips you can give yourself a makeover that easily transitions from day to evening.

Tip 1
After a peaceful night of sleep, your skin will likely look rested, fresh and require very little makeup. Chances are, by the end of a stressful day on the job, your complexion may look a little less clean. But you can be prepared with a small tote full of the essentials like makeup remover, mascara and foundation. The Jane Iredale Pure Pressed Base would be a great product to add to your makeup bag. The minerals in the product will reflect the light and offer a much wider color tolerance than other makeups.

Tip 2
While you certainly don't want to start from scratch to apply fresh makeup, you need to minimize the dirt and grime that builds built up throughout the day. The product of your face may smear during the day and it's essential to clean-up any residue. Wash your face in the evening before freshening up your cosmetics.

Tip 3
According to an article in Cosmopolitan, stress and caffeine can cause the face to appear red throughout the day. The source suggests skipping the blush and brightening the skin with gold shimmer powder instead.

Tip 4
Transform your lips from office chic to night-on-the-town hot with a darker lip color. The shade you wear to the office may be a lot more neutral than the hue you apply before a fun evening.
